“The soothing tongue is a tree of life.” –Proverbs 15:4
I had just arrived at work one morning, sat down at my desk, when my cell phone buzzed to let me know that I had a text message. The morning had already been quite busy with the usual hustle and bustle at my house. It takes a lot of effort to get the whole family ready and out the door for work and school. We often joke that we are, “Off like a herd of turtles.”
Ready to start another busy day at work I looked down at the new message on my phone. It was from one of my friends who lives in another town. He sent a message that simply said, “I just wanted you to know that I appreciate you and the work you do as a pastor.” It was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. I quickly wrote him back and said, “Thank you.”
This entire exchange took only a few moments of my morning, but it truly helped make my day. A kind word has the power to shape our attitude and our outlook for the day. Sharing a kind word, and a moment of our time is a simple gift with a profound impact. I hope today you will share a kind word and a moment of your time with someone. What you do matters. What you do can bless someone and make their day.
