I remember as a child the excitement that came every time I moved up to a new school.  When I went from elementary to middle school, middle school to high school, and high school to college.  Each time I felt a sense of anxiousness and relief all at the same time.  On one hand it was new, bigger, and a little intimidating.  I didn’t know what to expect and there were a lot of new things to get used to.  It got me out of my comfort zone, and for that reason I felt anxious.
Yet, at the same time, it was also fresh and exciting.  It offered a chance for a new beginning.  It was an opportunity to start over with a clean slate and be the person I wanted to be.  There were people who knew nothing about me and had no reason to make any judgments about me.  I was able to grow as a person and dream about new things.  It gave a sense of hope that can only come with a new beginning.

That’s what we are experiencing right now at St. Luke’s Edmond.  We have just moved into our new home.  It’s new, bigger, and can almost seem a little intimidating at first to just walk in the doors not knowing anything about the people or the place.  Yet, at the same time there is a feeling of excitement and hope that comes with this new beginning.

At different times in life, we all need a new beginning.  The good news is that God offers that to us fresh each day.  Whether it is through a new church home, a new school, a new job, or just a new day, God is reaching out to reveal a message of grace to us that wipes the slate clean and gives us the opportunity to put the past behind us and start new.  Remember today that you are loved, cared for, and you get to dream about creating any future for yourself that you want.  Make this day your new beginning.  After all, it is Casual Friday!
