Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21

I remember when it was getting close to the time for me to learn to drive. I had no interest in learning and, to tell the truth, I was terrified to learn. I was so afraid that I would not be able to do it, or that I would crash and hurt someone. My mother knew I was afraid and she did her best to encourage me. I remember one afternoon we were coming home from visiting a friend out near McCloud and Mom said she wanted me to drive down the country dirt road. I was so nervous and did not want to do it, but Mom encouraged me and told me that I could do it. Her confidence in me gave me the courage to at least try. I was thankful we were on a dirt road with no one else around. I had trouble keeping the car straight, but I made it all the way down the road without hitting anything! Eventually between the encouragement and patience of Mom and my driver’s education teacher, Mr. Lawrence, I learned to drive.

Sometimes in life we have trouble staying on the straight path and doing what God has called us to do. We may get off track or become afraid to do what we know is right. We fear that we cannot do it, or that we may crash or fail. This is when we need to stop and take the time to listen to God and know that he is always with us. God has patience with us and he will encourage us when we need Him the most. We must learn to not be afraid, but trust that God is with us and will equip us to do his will. We are all called to do God’s will for our lives. We are all called to share God’s love and bring hope to the world! Do not be afraid. God is with us!
