“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” -1 John 4:9

This year, Keon Coleman will begin his rookie season with the Buffalo Bills. Although most players will not report for mandatory mini camps until June, rookies like Keon Coleman have already begun to acclimate to their new careers. Last fall, Keon was a starting wide receiver for the Florida State Seminoles. Keon had an amazing season in his last year of college. He led his team in receiving yards and was named First Team All-ACC. In fact, Keon Coleman was named first team at three positions, an honor only one other in the ACC has received.

Keon Coleman’s success in college was rewarded when he was selected in the second round of the NFL draft by the Buffalo Bills. He will be a welcomed asset to an already exciting roster in Buffalo.

Logan B. is a six-year-old Buffalo Bills fan and a resident of Buffalo, NY. When he learned that Keon Coleman had been drafted by the Bills, Logan wrote a note to welcome him to Buffalo and included a gift that he made for him. Logan wrote that he had been making friendship bracelets to give to the players and “to spread love.” Logan ended his letter by recommending some of his favorite places to eat in Buffalo. It was a wonderful and hospitable gesture from a young fan.

Recently, the Buffalo Bills released their team photos and individual photos of the players. The bracelets, made by Logan are clearly visible in Keon’s photos. Before participating in one single play for the Buffalo Bills, Keon has made a new fan…a new friend. The photos have been shared across social media and people are taking notice of the 6’3” wide receiver who was glad to continue sharing the love first passed to him by a six-year-old he had never met.

The letter of First John states, “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” This is why our mission at St. Luke’s is to share God’s love and bring hope to the world. God has loved us. As we understand God’s love, we learn to take every opportunity to share this love with others. Keon Coleman received a kind gift of love and did not hesitate to share it with others. I hope today we will use this as a reminder to find ways to share God’s love. The smallest gesture can share the great love of God with the world.
