Catalina Campos is a young lady who understands that a small act of kindness can bring great joy to others. Catalina is ten years old and lives in Kansas City, Missouri. She has started her on non-prophet, Circul KC. Catalina’s mission is to ensure that her community’s senior citizens receive the love and support they deserve. Catalina recruits her friends and other youth to collect supplies and deliver them to needy senior citizens.
This past Mother’s Day, Catalina, and the youth of Circul KC gathered to ensure every woman was celebrated and that each mother felt cared for by someone. The youth met at Catalina’s house and put together small bouquets of colorful flowers to deliver to nursing homes. They took time to write small notes of gratitude to include with each bouquet. When the flowers were ready, they divided into teams and traveled to nearby nursing homes and a local park.
The girls spent the day handing out these small gifts of kindness. It was difficult to tell who was having a better time that day. The women who were receiving the flowers and the girls who were handing them out seemed to be equally excited. Everyone had a big smile on their face!
There is no doubt that kindness is a blessing for those who receive and those who give. This is especially true when kindness is extended to people who are often overlooked. Catalina noted that “sometimes moms don’t have kids come and give them stuff.” Catalina’s willingness to look for the moms in her area who might be neglected brought great joy that day in Kansas City.
God’s love has opened our eyes to the joy of receiving the great gift of grace and hope. When we extend kindness to our neighbors, even a small gesture of kindness, we can open other’s eyes to the great love of God. Kindness can remind others they are not alone, and they are not forgotten. God is with us all. God has given each of us the gift of life and love. I hope Catalina’s work will inspire us all to look for opportunities to bless other’s today. We all need a reminder, at times, that we are loved and not alone.
