The mission of St. Luke's is to Share God's Love and Bring Hope to the World. We believe it is our calling to go out into the world to bless lives all around the globe.
- Africa Mission
St. Luke’s is in the beginning stages of starting a mission to Africa. A scouting group will be visiting several areas to see where St. Luke’s can share God’s love. We are coordinating these efforts with World Neighbors, a ministry that started at St. Luke’s in 1951, and the Downtown Rotary Club of Oklahoma City.
World Neighbors’ mission is to provide lasting solutions for people suffering from hunger, poverty, and disease around the world through education and training, helping them to become self-sufficient.
The Downtown Rotary Club is a member of Rotary International, a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Trips to Africa will be scheduled in 2020.
- Alaska Mission
St. Luke’s partners with Methodist churches in Alaska by sending small teams to help congregations throughout Alaska each summer. The mission teams have helped by cutting, stacking, and delivering firewood to the community, painting, hosting VBS, and other projects for the church. Enjoying the scenery and wildlife in Alaska is captivating, and it doesn’t hurt that it is typically 30 degrees cooler than Oklahoma in the summer.
- Honduras Mission
St. Luke’s began traveling to the Island of Roatan, Honduras in 2014. Mission trips are taken each year to work with local churches, schools, and communities to establish lasting relationships. This mission empowers children, youth, and adults to become influential leaders.
You can be a part of a St. Luke’s mission trip that is truly sharing God’s love and transforming an impoverished community. Mission teams spend one week providing a variety of assistance through construction projects, Bible school, medical services, food delivery, and much more.
In 2020, there will be two opportunities to travel to Roatan, Honduras May
16 – 23 and May 23 – 30. Volunteer space is limited.
- Russia Mission
Since 1992, St. Luke’s has partnered with friends in Ulyanovsk, Russia to share Christ’s love, grow in our faith, and serve those in need. In that time, two churches have been started in Ulyanovsk, and another church opened in Siberia. Opportunities to serve include participating as a member of a future mission team, serving as a short-term host for Russian guests visiting St. Luke’s, or joining the prayer team.
