We’re happy to welcome Rev. Brian Bakeman this morning. He’ll be leading us this month as we study the “I AM” statements using Rev. Rob Fuquay’s book, The God We Can Know. Rev. Fuquay is the pastor at St. Luke’s UMC in Indianapolis.

We watched a video with Rev. Fuquay, going to the place where Moses encountered God and God said to tell the Israelites “I AM has sent me to you” (Exodus 3:13). The I AM statements made by Jesus help us learn who God is and they were similar and symbolic of Jewish traditions. There were many connections between Moses and Jesus and the Hebrew heritage plays heavily in our Protestant heritage. The main message is love God and love your neighbor.

Pam Holzberger is having problems with her teeth and would appreciate our prayers. Our October dinner is scheduled for the 17th at Charlestons on the Northwest Highway. Make plans to be there.
