Special Needs

Samuel's Call is our special needs ministry that offers a Sunday school class for young children with special needs, a dance therapy class on Saturday mornings, and Parents Day Out on the third Saturday of each month. We also host the Autism Society of Central Oklahoma's support group meetings on the fourth Thursday evening of each month.

Autism Society of Central Oklahoma

Parents and family members are invited to support group meetings and informational training sessions with the Autism Society of Central Oklahoma. The meetings are hosted by St. Luke’s at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month. Childcare is provided.

Samuel’s Call Christmas Luncheon

Each December, St. Luke’s provides an opportunity for families who have children with special needs to come together for a meal and fellowship with other parents. Care for the special needs children and their siblings is provided.

Samuel’s Call Dance Therapy

This class is designed as dance therapy for children with special needs. The class teaches movement, how to follow instructions, spatial concepts, sequential memory and self-confidence. Classes are divided by age group and held on Saturday mornings. There is a registration fee and monthly tuition.

Samuel’s Call Parents Day Out

On the third Saturday afternoon of each month, we provide one-on-one childcare for children with special needs and their siblings, so parents can have quality time with their spouses, friends or family. The afternoon includes music and snack time, as well as plenty of fun games and activities with our volunteers. This is a school year program that runs from September through May. Samuel’s Call Sunday School

Childcare and a Bible lesson is provided for children with special needs (ages 5 - 10) from 9:30 a.m. - noon. This class is offered so parents can attend a worship service and a Sunday school class.

Samuel’s Call Vacation Bible School

This summer, St. Luke’s will offer Samuel’s Call Vacation Bible School for children with special needs and their siblings on June 4-7 from 5:45-7:30 p.m. Activities include music and movement, interactive story time with puppets, snack time, and arts/crafts. This program is open to 3-year-olds through rising 5th graders.

Volunteer Opportunities

We need volunteers for Parents Day Out from 1:00 - 5:00 pm on the third Saturday of each month.

No special training is required to be a Samuel’s Call volunteer. At drop-off time, the parents will spend time with you to give you any specific instructions that may be required. Rovers are available to assist you at any time. If your own children (late grade school through high school) want to come with you to help, it is encouraged, so you can serve others together.
